Standard Chartered has announced the retirement of Zarin Daruwala, the CEO for India and South Asia, effective from April 1, 2025. Daruwala, who joined the bank in 2016, will step down after more than eight years in the role. During her tenure, she played a key role in transforming the India business into one of the largest markets for Standard Chartered, with a focus on Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) and Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB).

In a statement, the bank credited her for building a strong risk and compliance culture and driving a strategic emphasis on cross-border solutions in both CIB and WRB. Her leadership saw the bank achieve significant growth and stability in India, contributing to the bank’s global network.

Zarin Daruwala’s banking career spans more than 35 years. Standard Chartered has not yet announced her successor but indicated that an announcement will be made in due course.

Sunil Kaushal, Co-Head of Corporate and Investment Banking and CEO of ASEAN and South Asia, expressed his gratitude for Daruwala’s contributions, particularly for her focus on execution and technology investments, which helped in turning around the India business. “We wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” said Kaushal.
