Bitget Launches OmniConnect for Multichain Transactions on Telegram

Bitget Wallet has introduced a new software kit called "OmniConnect," enabling users to connect Telegram mini-apps with multiple blockchain networks, including Solana, TON, and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible chains. This innovative software aims to merge Web3 technology with Telegram, positioning Bitget Wallet as a significant player in connecting social media with decentralized technologies.

Understanding Telegram Mini-Apps

Telegram mini-apps are web-based applications that users can launch and operate directly within the Telegram platform. Developed using JavaScript, these apps can replace traditional websites and integrate payment options like Google Pay and Apple Pay. They provide seamless access to services without leaving the Telegram environment.

Features of OmniConnect

According to Bitget Wallet, OmniConnect allows mini-apps to utilize its wallet for signing and executing transactions across various blockchain networks. Previously, these mini-apps could only interact with the TON network, limiting engagement with other public chains. OmniConnect aims to bridge this gap and enable smooth multi-chain interactions.

Telegram's New Policy on User Data

In a separate development, Telegram recently updated its terms of service, announcing that it will now disclose user IP addresses to authorities upon valid legal requests, such as search warrants. This marks a significant shift for the platform, which has long been known for its strong privacy features.

With over 700 million active users, Telegram has positioned itself as a secure communication platform, often seen as a refuge for those seeking encrypted messaging free from government surveillance. The new policy indicates a willingness to cooperate with law enforcement under certain conditions.
