Axis Bank Reappoints Amitabh Chaudhry as MD and CEO for Another Three-Year Term

Axis Bank has reappointed Amitabh Chaudhry as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a further three years, beginning January 1, 2025, and extending through December 31, 2027. The bank’s board approved the reappointment in April, and it subsequently received shareholder approval at Axis Bank’s 30th Annual General Meeting held on July 26, 2024, pending regulatory approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Chaudhry, who joined Axis Bank in 2019, has led a transformative period for the bank. Under his leadership, Axis has strengthened its retail banking offerings, enhanced digital operations, and significantly expanded its commercial credit portfolio. Notable achievements include the acquisition of Citibank India’s retail business in 2023, further positioning Axis as a leader in India’s retail and credit card markets.

The bank’s decision to extend Chaudhry’s tenure underscores its confidence in his strategic vision. His reappointment marks continuity in Axis Bank's growth trajectory and reflects the board's trust in his ability to navigate the evolving banking landscape.
