Bajaj Finance Takes Action Following Employee's Tragic Suicide Linked to Work Stress
Bajaj Finance has placed several senior managers on administrative leave following the suicide of 42-year-old employee Tarun Saxena from Uttar Pradesh. Saxena's body was discovered on Monday, and in a five-page suicide note addressed to his wife, he alleged that he had been subjected to overwhelming work stress and pressure from his superiors for months.
In his note, Saxena requested that his family file a police complaint against his seniors, highlighting the immense pressure he felt to meet targets despite his efforts. He expressed distress over his inability to perform and indicated that he had been unable to sleep for 45 days, fearing job loss and experiencing ongoing humiliation from management.
In response to the situation, Bajaj Finance stated that it has relieved the implicated employees of their responsibilities to ensure a fair investigation. The company expressed its condolences and sadness over Saxena's tragic passing, describing him as a loving father and dedicated employee who had been with the organization for over seven years.
Bajaj Finance reassured stakeholders of its commitment to a workplace culture based on fairness and respect. The company noted that it has established policies to govern workplace conduct and that any violations would be met with strict disciplinary measures. Amid criticism regarding its work culture on social media, Bajaj Finance emphasized its dedication to supporting the well-being of its employees.
The investigation into Saxena's claims is ongoing, with the company pledging its full cooperation with the authorities.
