Yuki Gambaryan Advocates for Release of Detained Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan

Yuki Gambaryan, the wife of detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, has renewed her plea for his release during an October 1 appearance on the podcast "Designated" hosted by former CIA analyst Yaya Fanusie.

In her heartfelt remarks, Yuki expressed her anguish over her husband's sudden imprisonment earlier this year. “Tigran is innocent and he didn’t do anything wrong. He is suffering and needs to come home,” she stated. She emphasized the potential for such a situation to affect anyone, urging awareness of the hardships she and her family are enduring.

Yuki shared her struggles with physical and mental health, describing her "crippling" worries about Tigran's well-being, but she is determined to remain strong for their two young children. “The other day I took them to a nearby park and my son saw an airplane in the sky. He asked me if daddy was on that airplane. It was heartbreaking,” she recalled.

Tigran Gambaryan was arrested in Nigeria on charges of money laundering and tax evasion after attending policy discussions, despite assurances of safe passage. The validity of the charges has been questioned, with critics suggesting that he is being used as leverage amid Nigeria's challenges with Binance’s operations.

While his colleague Nadeem Anjarwalla managed to leave the country, Gambaryan remains incarcerated at Kuje prison near Nigeria's capital, where he has faced serious health issues, including malaria and double pneumonia. Recent court footage revealed him in distress, struggling to walk and questioning why he was not allowed to use a wheelchair. “I’m innocent—why are you doing this to me?” he cried out during the hearing.

Yuki Gambaryan urged the U.S. State Department to formally declare her husband as wrongfully detained, emphasizing the urgent need for governmental action in his case. “What Tigran is going through is a complete disregard for justice and humanity and it should not be tolerated,” she said, expressing her growing difficulty in maintaining hope.
