U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has made her first public commitment to support the cryptocurrency sector, promising to foster "innovative technologies" including digital assets. Speaking at a fundraiser at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan, Harris emphasized her intention to protect the interests of the crypto industry while encouraging innovation.

During her address, Harris highlighted the need for collaboration among labor groups, small business founders, innovators, and major corporations. "We will work together to enhance America’s competitiveness and invest in our future," she stated. "This includes promoting cutting-edge technologies such as AI and digital assets, all while safeguarding our consumers and investors."

In her vision for an "opportunity economy," Harris outlined her approach to regulations, advocating for a stable business environment with clear and consistent rules. "We will focus on investing in sectors like semiconductors and clean energy, while also cutting through unnecessary red tape," she added.

The fundraiser was notably successful, raising $27 million—marking the largest single-event fundraising total since Harris began her campaign.

In a recent move to influence her crypto policies, industry leaders organized a separate fundraiser for Harris. According to FiveThirtyEight, she currently holds a slight lead over former President Donald Trump in national polls, aided by a surge in support following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race.

Harris's recent comments come in light of several high-profile collapses in the crypto market, reflecting her commitment to ensuring the sector's stability. Hedge fund manager Anthony Scaramucci has expressed optimism about her approach, stating that Harris is on the right path regarding digital asset policies.
