The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved Partha Pratim Sengupta as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bandhan Bank. Sengupta, who previously led Indian Overseas Bank, will officially take charge by November 10, 2024, for a three-year term, the bank announced in a regulatory filing.
The bank’s board of directors recommended Sengupta’s appointment, which received the RBI's formal approval in a letter dated October 8, 2024. The proposal for his appointment will be presented to the nomination and remuneration committee and the board for final approval in the coming weeks.
Sengupta takes over from Bandhan Bank's founder MD and CEO, Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, who stepped down from his role on July 9, 2024. Currently, Ratan Kesh, an executive director at the bank, is serving as the interim MD and CEO.
With nearly four decades of experience in the banking sector, Partha Sengupta has a vast understanding of both retail and corporate banking operations.
